About Me...I am the new full time music teacher at Woodstone Elementary! I graduated from UTSA in December, 2015 with a degree in Music Education. This is my first year teaching and I am thrilled to join the NEISD family here at Woodstone!
I truly have a passion for elementary music education because I believe that music is a foundational aspect of development for a child. I was just recently married in November of 2015 and although I love teaching, I also love going home to my husband so we can spend time together! |
The Music Room |
Many of you may not know exactly what happens in a music room. In my music room we sing, we play games, we learn all about music; how to read, listen to and perform music from different cultures and how to play many different instruments. I hope that throughout this year your children will be able to bring home lots of songs, games and life lessons from my music room. As an elementary music teacher I understand that not every student will grow up to be a famous musician. So, I focus on not only teaching music, but on developing the child as an individual. In music we have such a unique opportunity to incorporate individual, as well as group performance, creativity, improvisation, and uniformity. These are skills that are essential to child development.
